What are Inconel 718 Forgings?

Inconel 718 Forging is a nickel-based alloy that is renowned for its strength, durability, and resistance to corrosion. It is an ideal material for a variety of applications, from automotive components to medical implants to aerospace components.

Inconel Alloy 718 Forgings have impressive physical properties that make it an ideal choice for various forging applications. It has excellent tensile strength and ductility at high temperatures, outstanding creep-rupture strength, and superior fatigue strength compared to other materials. This means that Nickel 718 Forgings can withstand high stress and extreme temperatures without losing its shape or becoming brittle over time. Additionally, Nickel Alloy 718 Forgings has a very low coefficient of thermal expansion—making it highly resistant to thermal cycles—and excellent corrosion resistance in both acidic and alkaline environments. We provide various kinds of Inconel Forgings like Inconel X750 Forgings and Nitronic 60 Forging.

The combination of the aforementioned properties makes Inconel 718 Forged Flat Bars an excellent choice for many forging applications where strength, durability, and reliability are paramount. Its ability to retain its structural integrity at extreme temperatures makes it especially suitable for parts used in aerospace or automotive engines; its low coefficient of thermal expansion also makes Inconel 718 Forged Blocks ideal for precision components such as medical implants or optical parts like camera lenses. Additionally, because of its inherent corrosion resistance and ability to withstand harsh environmental conditions such as saltwater exposure or caustic chemicals, Inconel 718 Forged Circular Plates can be used in situations where other materials would not hold up well.

Heat Treatment of Inconel® 718 Forging

Inconel 718 forging requires heat treatment at temperatures of 980-1065°C to achieve desired properties. The best heat treatment cycle for optimal tensile and stress rupture properties is 1 hour at 1750-1800°F followed by 8 hours at 1325°F with controlled cooling. For optimal room temperature and cryogenic tensile properties, a cycle of 1-2 hours at 1950°F followed by 8 hours at 1325°F is recommended. Inconel 718 has high hardness and toughness, making it challenging to machine and weld. Despite these challenges, it is a popular choice in aerospace and gas turbine applications due to its unmatched performance.

Common Trade Names: Inconel 718®, Haynes® 718, Nicrofer® 5219, Alvac® 718, Altemp® 718.

What are Inconel 718 forgings?

Inconel 718 forgings are solid metal parts that have been shaped through a forging process using Inconel 718 alloy. Forging involves heating the metal to a high temperature and then shaping it with a die & hammer or press.

What are the benefits of using Inconel 718 forgings?

Inconel 718 forgings offer a number of benefits, including high strength, excellent corrosion and oxidation resistance, and good ductility. They are also able to withstand high stress & strain levels at elevated temperatures.

What are Inconel 718 forgings used for?

Inconel 718 forgings are commonly used in a variety of industries, including aerospace, power generation, & chemical processing. Also, they are used in applications that require high strength & corrosion resistance at elevated temperatures, such as turbine blades, exhaust nozzles, as well as heat exchangers.
